 एक जादुई दुनिया / A magical world

It is about the time when I (Amit Srivastava) was studying in the second year of graduation. I was fond of traveling since childhood. We were a group of three people. Which included two of my friends Simpu Singh and Rajiv Upadhyay. Wherever we used to go, we used to go for a walk together.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

बात उस समय की है जब मैं (अमित श्रीवास्तव) स्नातक द्वितीय वर्ष में पढ़ाई कर रहा था। मैं बचपन से ही घूमने फिरने का शौकीन था। हम तीन लोगों का एक ग्रुप था। जिनमें मेरे दो मित्र सिम्पू सिंह और राजीव उपाध्याय भी सामिल थे। हम लोग जहां भी जाते थे एक साथ ही घूमने जाया करते थे।

One day we made a plan to go on a long journey somewhere. We wanted to go to West Bengal. The matter was finalized, two days later. Although we wanted to go to Vardhaman (a city in West Bengal) and at a certain time we got ready at a certain place but suddenly the plan changed and we did not go to Vardhman and go to Darjeeling. (Actually Vardhaman wanted to go to Simpu and Darjeeling Rajiv and I did not know much about West Bengal.)

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

एक दिन हम लोगों ने कहीं लम्बी यात्रा पर जाने का प्लान बनाया। हमलोग पश्चिम बंगाल जाना चाहते थे। बात तय हो गई, दो दिन बाद का समय रखा गया। यद्यपि हम लोग वर्द्धमान (पश्चिम बंगाल का एक शहर) जाना चाहते थे और निश्चित समय पर हम लोग पूरी तरह तैयार होकर निश्चित जगह पर मिले मगर अचानक प्लान बदल गया और हम वर्द्धमान न जा कर दार्जिलिंग जाने को तैयार हो गए। (वास्तव में वर्द्धमान सिम्पू जाना चाहता था और दार्जिलिंग राजीव और मुझे पश्चिम बंगाल के बारे में ज्यादा जानकारी नहीं थी।)

We set out on our journey. Rajiv's maternal uncle was about to meet in Calcutta (Kolkata). He was a truck driver. We reached Calcutta and the whole day was rested in Calcutta. Although we must visit the fish market of Nauhati.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

हम लोग अपने सफ़र पर निकल पड़े। कलकत्ता (कोलकाता) में राजीव के मामा जी मिलने वाले थे। वे एक ट्रक ड्राईवर थे। हम लोग कलकत्ता पहुंच गए और पूरा एक दिन कलकत्ता में आराम किया गया। यद्यपि हम नौहाटी का मछली बाजार जरुर घूमें।

We wanted to go to Darjeeling by train, but Rajiv's maternal uncle's neighbor told us that we should go by bus. What was it then, we set out. We reached Siliguri by a government bus, then after traveling for about two hours from Siliguri, we reached Darjeeling.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

हम ट्रेन से दार्जिलिंग जाना चाहते थे मगर राजीव के मामा जी के पड़ोसी ने बताया कि हमें बस से जाना चाहिए। फिर क्या था, हम निकल पड़े। एक सरकारी बस से हम सिलीगुड़ी पहुँचे फिर सिलीगुड़ी से लगभग दो घण्टे की यात्रा करके हम दार्जिलिंग जा पहुँचे।

The next day we went uphill to Tiger Hill. We became friends with a local named Gagan Sarkar. He told us a lot of things and helped us move around. We were together on Tiger Hill.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

अगले दिन हम लोग टाइगर हिल की चढ़ाई पर गए। गगन सरकार नाम का एक स्थानीय से हमारी मित्रता हो गई। उसने हम लोगों को बहुत सारी बातें बताई और घूमने में मदद की। टाइगर हिल पर हम लोग साथ में ही थे। 

The main joy of Tiger Hill was in climbing it. We found many tourists climbing there. Kanchanjunga peak is nearby. It was our good luck that on that day, apart from Kanchanjunga, the highest peak in the world, we also saw Sagarmatha (Everest) climbing Tiger Hill. There is no charge to see Tiger Hill, but there is a charge to climb the tower and sit.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

टाइगर हिल का मुख्‍य आनंद इस पर चढ़ाई करने में था। हमें वहां पर बहुत से पर्यटक चढ़ाई करते हुए मिले। पास में ही कंचनजंघा चोटी है। यह हमारी खुशकिस्मती थी कि उस दिन हम लोग दुनिया की सबसे ऊंची चोटी कंचनजंघा के अलावा सागरमाथा (एवरेस्ट) भी टाइगर हिल की चढ़ाई से देखे। टाइगर हिल देखने का कोई चार्ज नहीं है, मगर टावर पर चढ़ने और बैठने का चार्ज लगता है।

Close to Tiger Hill was Ghoom Math (Gelugas). A 15 feet tall statue of Lord Buddha was established here. This idol is made of a precious stone and has gold gilding on it. There is also a museum of books in this monastery. Overall, today was a good day.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

टाइगर हिल के निकट ही घूम मठ (गेलुगस्) था। यहाँ पर भगवान बुद्ध की 15 फीट ऊंची मूर्त्ति स्‍थापित की गई थी। यह मूर्त्ति एक कीमती पत्‍थर का बना हुआ है और इसपर सोने की कलई की गई है। इसी मठ में एक पुस्तकों का संग्रहालय भी है। कुल मिलाकर आज का दिन अच्छा बीता।

 We were tired quickly. But Gagan did not seem to be making any difference. We came back and quickly fell asleep due to being tired. I had a very good sleep that day.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

हम लोग जल्दी थक गए थे। मगर गगन को जैसे कोई फर्क ही नहीं पड़ रहा था। हम वापस आ गए और थके होने के कारण जल्दी ही सो गए। उस दिन बहुत अच्छी नींद आई।

On the second day, we slept for a long time. After waking up late, we could not understand where we went that day, we did not go anywhere. Throughout the day, we spent time only on the carromboard. In the evening, plans for the second day's visit started being made.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

दूसरे दिन काफी देर तक हम सोते रहें। देर से जगने के बाद हमें समझ में नहीं आ रहा था कि हम कहाँ जाएं उस दिन हम लोग कहीं भी नहीं गए। दिन भर हम लोग केवल कैरमबोर्ड पर ही समय बिताए। शाम को दूसरे दिन के घूमने का प्लान बनने लगा।

The next day we again met Gagan and all four went out to visit the Japanese temple (Peace Pagoda). This temple gives a very beautiful view of the entire Darjeeling and Kanchanjunga range. Gagan told that this Stupa was founded by Fuji Guru. Fuji Guru was a good friend of Mahatma Gandhi.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

अगले दिन फिर से हम लोग गगन से मिले और चारों लोग जापानी मंदिर (पीस पैगोडा) घूमने निकल गए।इस मंदिर से पूरे दार्जिलिंग और कंचनजंघा श्रेणी का अति सुंदर नजारा दिखता है। गगन ने बताया कि इस स्‍तूप की स्‍थापना फूजी गुरु ने किया था। फूजी गुरु जी महात्मा गांधी के अच्छे मित्र थे।

The next day we were going to visit the Makhala temple. This temple is near Bhutia-Basti-Math, but then we changed the plan. And we went to another beautiful place, which was really nothing short of heaven. I really wanted to visit such places.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

अगले दिन हम लोग मखाला मंदिर घूमने वाले थे। यह मंदिर भूटिया-‍‍बस्‍ती-मठ  के पास में है, मगर फिर हमने प्लान बदल दिया। और हम एक और खूबसूरत सी जगह पर गए, जो वास्तव में स्वर्ग से कम नहीं था। मैं वास्तव में ऐसे जगहों पर ही घूमना चाहता था।

Yes, I am talking about the Leordas Botanical Garden. Which is very beautiful. We also visit Padmaja and get a close look at wild animals.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

जी हां, मैं बात कर रहा हूँ, लियोर्डस वानस्‍पतिक उद्यान की। जो बहुत ही खूबसूरत है। हम पदमाजा भी घूमें और जंगली जीवों को करीब से देखने का अनुभव लिए।

The Natural History Museum is close to the Leordas Botanicals. But I was feeling some weakness. So I did not go there and come back. So none of the four of us went there because of me not going there.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

लियोर्डस वानस्‍पतिक के नजदीक ही नेचुरल हिस्‍ट्री म्‍यूजियम है। पर मुझे कुछ कमजोरी महसूस हो रही थी। तो मैं वहाँ नहीं गया और वापस आ गया। अतः मेरे वहां न जाने की वजह से हम चारों में से कोई भी वहां पर नहीं गया।

The next day I was feeling some fever, so I went nowhere. Even Gagan did not come today. So at the behest of Simpu, both Simpu and Rajiv went to the Tibetan Refugee Camp. The only purpose of going there was to shop for some goods. Both of them came and told me that the refugees who came there from Tibet make and sell very beautiful items like carpets, woolen clothes, wooden artifacts, metal toys etc.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

अगले दिन मुझे कुछ बुखार महसूस हो रही थी, अतः मैं कहीं नहीं गया। आज गगन भी नहीं आया था। तो सिम्पू के कहने पर सिम्पू और राजीव दोनों तिब्‍बतियन रिफ्यूजी कैंप में गए। वहाँ जाने का एकमात्र उद्देश्य कुछ सामानों की खरीदारी करना था। दोनों ने आकर मुझे बताया कि वहाँ तिब्बत से आए हुए शरणार्थी लोग कारपेट, ऊनी कपड़े, लकड़ी की कलाकृतियां, धातु के बने खिलौन आदि बहुत ही सुन्दर सामानों को बना कर बेचते हैं। 

I suffered from fever for two days. But we went out for a journey and I could not stay silently in one place. After lying in bed for two days, I agreed to go for the next day. Although my friends refused me but when was I going to believe.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

मैं दो दिन बुखार से पीड़ित रहा। मगर हम लोग घूमने निकले थे और एक जगह चुपचाप मैं पड़ा नहीं रह सकता था। दो दिन बिस्तर पर पड़े रहने के बाद मैं अगले दिन घूमने के लिए तैयार हो गया। यद्यपि मेरे दोस्तों ने मुझे मना किया पर मैं कब मनने वाला था।

We had set out on a new journey today. Today we boarded a toy train. A very beautiful sight was in front of our eyes. A hill full of lush greenery, I was truly overwhelmed. The 70 kilometer long zigzag and circular path was taking us into a new world. When we reached the Batasia Loop, the sight was so nice. The rail at this place was of the size of eight (8) digits. It was indeed such a beautiful place that I have no words to describe it today.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

हम लोग आज एक नई सफर पर निकल पड़े थे। आज हम लोग ट्वॉय ट्रेन में सवार हुए थे। बहुत ही खूबसूरत नजारा हमारी आँखों के सामने था। हरी भरी हरियाली से लदी हुई पहाड़ी, मैं वास्तव में भाव विभोर हो गया था। 70 किलो मीटर का टेढ़ा मेढ़ा और वृत्ताकार रास्ता हमें एक नई दुनिया में लेकर चल रहा था। जब हम लोग बताशिया लूप पर पहुँचे तो नजारे देखते ही बनते थे। इस जगह पर रेलखण्‍ड आठ (8) अंक के आकार की थी। यह वास्तव में इतनी सुन्दर जगह थी कि इसका वर्णन करने के लिए आज मेरे पास शब्द नहीं हैं।

Seeing such a beautiful place did not fill our mind at once. The next day we again boarded the toy train and today we were again with Gagan. He told that we should only go from Darjeeling station to Ghoom Math. We were out in the morning. The crowd was less at this time. While traveling by this train, we were enjoying a lot of natural views all around.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

इतनी खूबसूरत जगह को देखकर एक बार में हमारा मन नहीं भरा। अगले दिन हम लोग फिर ट्वॉय ट्रेन में सवार हुए और आज हमारे साथ फिर से गगन था। उसने बताया कि हमें सिर्फ डार्जिलिंग स्‍टेशन से घूम मठ तक जाना चाहिए। हम लोग बहुत सुबह निकले थे। इस समय भीड़ कम थी। इस ट्रेन से सफर करते हुए हम चारों ओर के प्राकृतिक नजारों का भरपूर लुफ्त ले रहे थे।

Today I realized that when you go out for a journey, you give a gift to your culture there and in return bring a special relationship with the culture there. One more thing, the nature of the world is not what we see everyday, but it is like what we see with ours open minds. My view of West Bengal was right or wrong but the magical form of West Bengal I saw today was truly amazing.

हिन्दी अनुवाद-

आज मुझे एहसास हुआ कि जब आप कहीं बाहर घूमने निकलते हैं तो आप वहां अपनी संस्कृति को उपहार स्वरूप दे देते हैं और बदले में वहां की संस्कृति के साथ एक खास रिश्ता भी लेकर आते हैं। एक चीज और, दुनिया का स्वरूप वैसा नहीं है जैसा हम रोज देखते हैं, बल्कि वैसा है जैसा हम अपनों के साथ खुले मन से देखते हैं। पश्चिम बंगाल के बारे में मेरा नजरिया सही था या गलत लेकिन आज पश्चिम बंगाल का जो जादुई रूप मैं देखा था वह वास्तव में अद्भुत था।
